MAZDA CX3 AT NAPLETON'S MAZDA OF URBANA

One of Mazda's sportiest SUVs, the Mazda CX3, from Napleton's Mazda of Urbana, features a load of features in a compact-crossover body. With good seating and a firm sport suspension, the CX3 can easily take you on errands around town, or if you like, for some hot laps at Road America raceway.

But really, what is the new CX3? Let's take a look.

Mazda CX3: What's it all about?

The Mazda CX3 is technically a five-seat crossover, but if we were the EPA, we would say that four passengers fit inside better than five. The CX3 gets its power from a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that puts out 148 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. Smoothly-tuned for maximum fuel efficiency, it is linked to a conventional six-speed automatic transmission. While not exactly the fastest engine in the Mazda fleet, the CX3's powerplant delivers as a result of its well-tuned chassis and stellar steering. It's just another way that Mazda delivers Zoom-Zoom in every vehicle it makes.

How does the Mazda CX3 SUV look?

With one of the sportiest silhouettes on the road today, the Mazda CX3 continues to vibe with innovative and expressive buyers worldwide. Starting with a chrome-accented grille opening, with matching wings leading to the headlamps, the pronounced seven-facet grille resembles the intake on a fighter jet. A swept-back windshield leads to the "floating roofline," which finishes under the bumper with a pair of chrome tailpipes.

What about the Mazda CX-3 interior looks?

The new Mazda CX-3 Sport is handsomely appointed inside with various accoutrements that are in-demand with auto buyers everywhere. Start with a seven-inch color touch screen display. Sitting directly above the center console, it offers controls for everything from Navigation, Bluetooth, audio, clock and more. Driver's can touch it directly or use the control dial on the console to change the views. 

The CX3 interior features a high line look and other features like an electronic parking brake, a push-button starter and a six-speaker audio system. There's a little bit of storage space behind the second row of seats, but if you fold those forward, you'll find a well designed, cargo-hauling urban runabout instead.

Zoom-Zoom is standard!

But that's not all! Look under the hood for a standard 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G four-cylinder engine with six-speed automatic transmission, with a sporty manumatic manual-shift mode. Put the gear selector in the proper position and you will be able to flick the lever for the next cog sequentially. Talk about rowing it yourself! You can do that and more with the Mazda CX3.

Also standard, you'll find active cruise control, LED head- and taillights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and automatic climate control. There are Bluetooth phone and audio connection, USB ports, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel and more.
