Just what is the Mazda Mazda6?

The Mazda6 is a four-door, five-passenger sedan that is essentially the flagship of the brand. It offers an impressive presence on the road, with spectacular handling characteristics and lean looks that make it appear in motion while standing still. In other words, the Mazda6 gives life to the brand's "Soul in Motion" design philosophy. 

The Mazda6 gets its power from a choice of engines. The Sport and Touring models receive their power from a 2.5-liter inline Skyactiv 4-cylinder engine with cylinder deactivation. On its own, it makes 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Touring, Reserve and Signature models boast of a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine that makes 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque when fueled with 93 octane gasoline. 

Both engines are matched up to a six-speed automatic transmission. Some models include paddle-shift levers; all include sport mode on the center console. The steering offers stellar feedback and the correct amount of assistance. Simultaneously, the G-Vectoring Control Plus, which is Mazda's torque vectoring system, allows you to shorten the radius of a lane change or a curve.

A Mazda6 Walkaround

Whether from twenty feet or from up close, the Mazda6 looks just right. Featuring a traditional long nose and short rear deck, this grand touring sedan features beautiful proportions, menacing headlamps and an upswept trunklid. 

The shapes, character lines and style as rendered by Mazda designers appear as though they clearly make up a single vision as to how proper sport sedans should look. It is here where the Mazda6 stands out.

Inside the Mazda6

The Mazda6 features one of the finest interiors on the road today. Best in class doesn't even begin to cover it. Using impressive materials, clean designs, and high-line décor, the Mazda6 continues to push the envelope in almost every way. The front seats offer well-designed support, while the second row offers proper cushioning with adequate legroom. 

The infotainment system is centered around an 8-inch touchscreen display operated by the rotary control knob located on the center console. The trunk offers 14.7 cubic feet of storage space, which grows when you fold the 60:40 split-folding rear seats forward.

Standard and available.

Standard outfitting on the Mazda6 includes such fare as forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking and automatic high beam headlamps. While the base Sport model includes cloth seating, stepping up will find leatherette or actual leather seating further up the product line. Rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control and other features are included. So too, is Mazda's G-Vectoring Control Plus, as are LED headlights and daylight running lights.

Other options are available on the Mazda Mazda6 but may offer savings when purchased as part of a higher trim level. Examples of these include the Touring model, which is complete with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, power-adjustable and heated driver's seat, a power moonroof, rear USB ports and 19-inch alloy wheels. 

Step up to the Grand Touring model for the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, upgraded braking, and even a stellar-sounding 11-speaker Bose audio system. 

The top-shelf Signature trim level really steps up things with a full leather interior and real Japanese wood accents, as well as a 360-degree camera system and many other luxury features.
